Cute Dancing Girl

Grace had her dance program last night. She did great and was super excited to be on the big stage. It was a long day though and after playing with friends, practice at 4 p.m., the program at 7 p.m., she wasn't in the mood for Santa when he arrived at 8:40 p.m. I think she had just been good for too long. The boys were excited to see Santa. It was super cute because Jaden was almost as excited as Grace was for this night. Grace has gone to swimming lessons, t-ball, wrestling and primary programs for Jaden so this was her night. I got to help her little class so you can see her looking at me in the front row. She concentrated so hard that she forgot to smile. Her hair also refused to curl. It usually curls really easy but 4 different curling irons, hot rollers and 3 different products could not make it stay! She was still cute. Grandma Linda helps with Grace's class and she says Grace is the "best dancer in the whole class"! She isn't biased though!! Showing off her cute costume! The boys with Santa! Grace says "ENOUGH"

Update

Apparently, if you want your baby to take a bottle-you just need to complain about it on a blog. That very same day at lunch time, I again tried the bottle. He gobbled it up in about 2 minutes. I was so excited I thought I'd cry. For a month or more now I've been working on it but he will now take bottles during the day time. So now can someone explain to me why I'm kinda sad about it. He is the first baby I've been able to only nurse. I should be relieved but I'm having mixed emotions. Maybe in a week when I can fit back in my shirts I'll be thrilled!

On a side note-I went to my recipe exchange group yesterday. We did brunch and a cookie exchange and it was so much fun. Grace met some new friends and I found an awesome new recipe for breakfast ciche(spelling?). I'm at my mom's today so I will try and post some pics and stuff when I get home. It is snowing like crazy and my kids are loving it. They look like little snow monsters! I miss the winters like they have here!

Help!!!!

Today Lane is 8 months old and I want to get him to take a bottle. I've tried every bottle, nipple, sippy cup. I've put flavors on the end of the nipples. I've put apple juice in the bottles. I've tried every day to get him to take the bottle. I've eliminated his noon feedings to get him to take a bottle. I was told to take one feeding away at a time, but I can't get him to even take the bottle. He pierces his lips and gets mad. I pumped and that didn't work. I've made him go hungry and that didn't work. I'm considering quitting cold turkey and seeing what happens but that scares me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a stubborn and spoiled child to take the bottle before his mom loses her mind?

1.Wrapping paper or gift bags? I hate wrapping presents. I think I wrapped too many with my grandma. She would wrap for hours with all sorts of curly ribbon! I would go the gift bag way but I do still wrap them because then it is funner to unwrap.

2. Real tree or Artificial? We have only used artifical for the last 2 years. Before that we would "poach" Christmas trees with mom and dad. I love real trees. Maybe soon we'll have to actually buy a tag or something.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I saw this cute shirt in Carter's that I almost bought for Lane. It said, "All mom wants for Christmas is a Silent Night!". That says it all.

Nothing fancy

I am sitting here at the computer, looking over my "to do" list and not wanting "to do" anything! I love this picture of Lane. He is such a smiley baby but when he is tired he has this blank stare on his face. Often times I feel the same way.

I've been reading everyone's blogs about things that they are thankful for. I've cried reading some and laughed at others but I can say that I feel grateful for much of the same things. This time of year is a great time to reflect and it is nice to stop and take the time to do that. I was thinking about the usual-husband, kids, house, groceries, health, etc. Not to discredit any of these wonderful blessings, I was also thinking about growing up and the wonderful blessings I had.

I will start with friends. After a few years without keeping up, I am so very grateful for the blogging world to let me reconnect. Each of them has touched me at a different time in my life. Each of them is strong and taught me so much. They have put up with me and loved me anyway. Hopefully they have forgiven me of my shortcomings and know that I have never stopped reminiscing about the fun we had and never stopped praying for their happiness.

I am grateful for my dad who honored his priesthood and his family. I don't think I would have searched for my great husband if it hadn't been for my dad. I'm grateful for my grandma (yes Les, I stole this from you). My grandma really is the best. My 3 wonderful brothers who I got to laugh, cry and grow up with. We aren't all that close but I do love them and miss them too. Of course my mom! I don't know what words to put for a mom. I don't think you fully appreciate them until you are one.

I am also grateful for my guardian angel. I have thought about this a lot since last January. I had a sister who passed on before I was born. I always wanted a sister and was jealous of the close bond I saw others have with theirs. I used to wish on a star for a sister(that is when Patrick came). Thanks to some personal experiences and some experiences Chad shared, I really believe my sister is watching over my family(old and new). I am also grateful for my learning experiences. I would say trials but I'm not sure that I've had those. I look at everyone around me and the things they deal with and think, "I couldn't do that". Then I feel guilty for not having to. There are so many wonderful people with so many challenges. The minor hiccups I've learned from have been hidden blessings and I'm grateful that I've been forced to grow.

Right now, I'm grateful for quiet time and nap time. How else could I update my blog!

For Patrick

For the last 8 months or so, I have been horrible at sending Patrick any letters or packages. I know he has probably given up on me, but we still pray for him every night as a family and my kids still adore him. So this post is to show Patrick how much his little nephew looks up to him. Now if only Cory and I knew anything about wrestling!!!

Who taught me to put on make-up?

The last week or so, people have been looking very closely at my right eye. No... it is not a poor attempt at make-up. It is a black eye. Cory and I did not fight. I did not fall. My kids are fine. The end of a bungee(yes, the black hook part)hit the corner of my eye. It hurt pretty bad. These pictures were taken last week and it got worse. Now it is black and blue more towards the bottom and has that pretty yellow jaundice color around the edges. Sorry about the lack of make-up!!!













And on a happier note...look how cute my baby is. He is 7 months now and adorable. He still isn't sleeping through the night and now refuses a binky or a bottle. If anyone has any suggestions on how to wean him with as little fight as possible or how to get him to sleep through the night(or even 5 hours). I am up for suggestions!

Halloween & Grandma Holley's 90th Birthday

We had so much fun this year. After a lot of stress, Jaden decided to be an indian and luckily his dad's indian costume worked perfect. Grace of course wanted to be Cinderella and I stole my sister-in-law Crysti's idea and made Lane Gus, the mouse from Cinderella! The highlights were Jaden getting a huge bat full of bubble gum and Grace eating all her mosquitles(AKA skittles). Lane was a cute mouse with his fat little cheeks and Cory and I are still enjoying stealing the kids candy.

We got to celebrate Grandma Holley's 90th birthday on Sunday! It was fun to see everyone. Grandma is a sweet lady and we love her. My kids are super spoiled, they have 4 great grandparents(Jaden has known 6). 3 of the 4 had huge birthday celebrations this year-Grandma Floyd turned 80, Grandpa Gallier turned 80 and Grandma Holley turned 90!

Thank goodness for Grace

Grace is at that fun age where she cracks me up daily. A couple days ago Jaden was getting ready to go to wrestling. My kids both have a bit of a hick accent so when Jaden told Grace that she could come but that they didn't "cheer" there and she couldn't "cheer". Grace responded with a very confused look, "why don't they have chairs!"

Then today she asked if we could go to McDonalds. I told her "no" and she asked the usual "why not". I told her because we didn't have the money for it today. She told me I could use daddy's money. I asked her where daddy's money was(maybe he has a stash I don't know about). She said it was on his nightstand. A few minutes ago she came all dressed up in her dress up clothes and handed me her purse. Then she said "oh wait, I have sumpeen(aka something) for you." She ran and came back with her piggy bank and gave it to me. I asked what it was for and she said it was for me because I didn't have any money.

Does it work

Call me Annie Oakley

This morning I am incredibly behind on everything I need to get done but I told my dad I would post some pictures of my fun weekend. I will try not to bore anyone with all the details of the hunt. So here are the highlights:
1- it rained hard most the day Saturday which limited what we could see and other than two that mom saw far away we didn't see much-Sunday there were trucks stuck and sliding off the mountain
2- we had awesome friends and family-mom and dad, Kevin & Nicole, Laura, Paul & Linda, Art, Vic, some of Paul's friends from work, my kids & husband. My kids were awesome and spent a ton of time in the truck-all day some days
3-we got up by 5:30 every morning and didn't get to bed until after 10. Then I was up in the night nursing Lane. I'm pretty tired. I would run to find a buffalo and then hurry back to feed my child.
4-Monday I hiked to the ends of the earth - Jaden hiked with us for a bit and is an awesome hiker
5-shot the buffalo on Tuesday morning early after deciding to stay one more morning and then call it quits
So as ironic as this sounds and for those who have hated the idea of hunting-let me tell you that I have a much greater appreciation for animals. My father-in-law says "why ruin a good hunt by killing an animal" and I agree. The fun of the hunt was being so close to the animals, hiking with my husband and seeing him in his element, explaining things to my kids-like how the body works, the amazing world we live in, how easy we have it, etc. I didn't think I would get emotional about killing an animal but I did. I've learned that most good hunters have the same emotions. Killing isn't easy and I don't understand people who can carelessly do it.
I'm not sure what else to tell so I'll just show the pictures. I'm so glad to be home and to finally sleep.

I'm off to shoot a... buffalo?

Ok, so I am officially off in the next few hours to attempt to shoot a buffalo. I'm alredy exhausted! Hopefully, I find a big buffalo standing right off the road tomorow morning and swiftly shoot it with one shot and then I can relax the rest of the time. Reality will probably include 20 mile hikes down and up steep canyons, waking up at 5 every morning after only a few hours of sleep thanks to Lane, and never finding anything that lookds like a buffalo! Anyway, hope all of you have a good weekend!

Are you kidding me?

Sorry, this post is going to be where I vent for a minute. Don't be surprised if I pull this post eventually but right now here it is. There has been so much construction around us lately. As if building in a newer subdivision and having all that comes with that isn't enough, all the roads into and out of our area are under construction. I understand that, I should have known that coming into it. But today, the mail system is my gripe. We have one of those community mailboxes around the block. We actually kinda like having to walk down to it every day. For some reason(I'm sure someone else would understand) there has been a huge hole dug across the road right to the side of the mailboxes. I can still access my mailboxes without being in any danger but to the average joe driving by they may just avoid the situation. I got mail there the first day the hole was there but the last two days I haven't gotten anything. I haven't missed all the junk mail but I am awaiting instruction from the Division of Wildlife Resources for a blood sample that I have to take from my bison(if I shoot one) this upcoming weekend. If I don't get it I could be charged with a felony! So I've been kinda wanting it to come. So today, I called the post office and asked if they were simply holding the mail at the post office. They informed me that they are not. The mail goes out every day with the carrier. Her route takes all day and if she feels that the box is not a safe delivery she won't deliver. She may be back before the post office closes, but she may not. His recommendation for me...watch for her. Ok, I have 3 kids, 1 dance class, 1 kindergarten pick-up, a sick baby and the mailbox is not where I can see it from my house. I'll just go camp out next to it in hopes that she hasn't already driven by and mabye, just maybe, I'll catch her. Who are they kidding? I'm adding them to my list of annoying and not very customer friendly must haves...cable, any furniture delivery, and now the mail carrier. Heaven help me!

Pat on the back... then slap on the face

So yesterday I took Grace to the dr. to see if her nose was broken(long story) anyway, he gave her and Jade a balloon, told them to hold onto it tight and sent us to the car. On the way home Grace asked, "Why do you tell us to hold our balloon's tight." I told her so the balloons wouldn't fly away. "Why would they fly away". I attempted to give her the 3 year old version of why balloons fly away. Normally this would be good enough but big brother needed to know the more complex version. After a brief conversation about the atmosphere, space ships leaving the earth, and other random 5 year old boy thoughts, Grace said, "So our balloons go to Jesus." I read Audrey's post the other day and had been thinking that her children must be so well taught. How adorable and sweet to have Jesus in the top of their sweet thoughts and to mention Him like we see Him daily. I wondered if my children would even think of something cute like that. So here I am patting myself on the back. I tried to call my hubby, my mom, anyone who would think it was cute but didn't get a hold of anyone.
Now fast forward a few hours. I'm asking Grace to clean her room before bed.
"You help me mom."
"Grace, I am helping I'm putting the books away. Why don't you pick up the baby doll stuff."
"I would if I could find the d*** box".
"What did you say?"
"I said I would if I could find the d*** box!"
In less than 8 hours I had felt the success and failure of my parenting. Slap on the face!

Bouncing and Dancing

I'm a little late but Grace started Dance a week ago. She wanted her hair done like a dancer so we tried something new. She was super excited. She even asked me not to go in with her. She is also really lucky because her grandma helps with the 3 year old class so she gets to go dancing with Grandma Linda. She has dance again tomorow and is already asking "is it time yet". This last weekend we went to Bear Lake and asked my mom to get out her "real" ballet shoes. Grace really wanted to see them.














It is also tradition to put the grandkids in Grandma Jane's bouncer. It is the same bouncer that I was in as a child and mom and dad still have the hole in the beam for the bouncer so all the grandkids get to use it. I think all but Grace and Melody got to take it home to use too. They have all loved it and as you can see by the video, it is fun for us too.


We also got to spend some time at the lake. The water was chilly but the day was perfect and it was so nice to spend time on the lake(sorry about the boat trailer dad, but we appreciate you taking us out)

Confessions of a redneck...

So I haven't posted my new and exciting news...mostly because I am terrified of how some people will react. I've already had one friend shy away from me after finding out my deep redneck secret. And now that I've built it up so much, I'll tell you: I'm going buffalo hunting. Yes, me! Yes, with a gun! Yes, shooting a wild animal that most people only see in Yellowstone! No, this was not high on my "to do list".

I guess my husband put me in for a cow buffalo tag and a deer tag in "the best area of the state"! I was completely unaware of this but really wouldn't care much anyway. But then a couple weeks ago the Division of Wildlife Resources called to inform me that someone had turned their tag back in and that I was now given the "once in a lifetime" tag if I wanted it(Audrey, for some reason I have a picture in my head of you laughing hysterically). Ironically, my cute sis-in-law, Laura, went last year and we got to go with her and it was fun. My kids love camping and the opportunity to see amazing animals up close was cool(my friend who may not be my friend anymore was sickened by the thought of doing anything other than taking a picture of them, which I understand and think that people who don't like hunting-don't have to). I did hate the smell of the dead one though and I'm not looking forward to that. Anyway, I am not attempting to convince anyone to become a hunter. I haven't shot a gun until the other day for years and I have never shot an animal(squirrels with Tom and Chris doesn't count, right?). I am kinda excited to get to go with my husband and be a part of something he really enjoys though. I am also terrified to screw up, and to attempt to put the time and energy into hunting(Laura hiked like 20 miles a day last year) after being up twice a night with my baby and feeding him every 3 hours. So it is actually a pretty fun hunt and if anyone is interested in coming, you are all invited!! Oh and now you understand the new camo background I have!

Now to a funner post-we went camping and four-wheeling last weekend. It was so much fun to get away from phones and stuff. I also got some fun pictures of my kids and thought I'd share:

Birthdays and School Daze

This week has been a whirl wind of fun changes for our family. Grace started preschool on Monday and was so excited. She loves telling you that the letter A says "aaaaaachoo". There are four of us who are doing a little preschool with our kids and Grace thinks it is awesome. She starts dance next wednesday so I'll post pics then.


Then yesterday was my birthday! I have officially started the last year of my twenties! Cory was really sweet and sent me an e-mail first thing in the morning then I had lots of friends and neighbors who called or stopped by. My kids weren't quite as happy when they helped me pick out my birthday cake. Jade thought I should get the Thomas one and Grace wanted me to get the Little Mermaid one. I finally chose a butterfly one(lots of icing mom) We went to Tacanos for dinner(kids under 6 eat free)! Then we came back around 8:30 for cake and ice cream.


Then today Jaden started kindergarten. Jaden was super excited. His dad gave him a father's blessing last night which helped mom get rid of all the tears so I would be ready this morning. Jaden wanted me to walk him in and help him find his chair. His teacher is incredible(she gave seminars at the National Kindergarten Convention, who knew they had one?). He was so cute and ready to go. He obviously wouldn't let me give him a hug or a kiss to say goodbye so I left him to his happiness.

This is his teacher Mrs.Tischner bringing the class out to be picked up! But let me back up and tell you the adventure between the time I dropped Jaden off and the time I picked him up!


I left my other two kids in the car with a friend of mine to watch them. I left the car going so she could let them and her little ones watch the DVD player and have the air on. I was only gone about 3 minutes so when I got back we chatted for a second about preschool and then she left. My other friend was coming out of the school and told me she had got some pics of Jaden in his class(another thing he wouldn't let me do). As I was talking to her, my car started sputtering and then quit. Yes, I ran out of gas. In my defense I've only ever done it one other time(remember Laura). I hadn't driven my car for the last 40 miles or so that it has been driven so I wasn't aware of the low gas problem. Needless to say, my friend went to get gas for me and I didn't officially leave Jaden at Kindergarten until about 50 minutes into his first day. I was just praying he wouldn't come outside with his class to see his mom still parked there. I'm sure she would have thought I was a paranoid first-time mom!

Mom and Dad's raspberries

Every summer we spend with my parents doing a day or two of raspberries. I wish I could stay and help them with the whole 3 weeks or so. Their raspberry business is pretty cool and my kids love helping with the picking and watching grandma make jam, jelly, syrup and ice cream. What have we been up too...

It's been a while since I've posted anything. It isn't that I've had nothing to post it is just that the last two weeks have been nonstop. It is no wonder that my youngest two were home today with runny noses, eyes and fevers. So here is the update. We went to Bear Lake two Sundays ago to spend the whole week. I haven't gone up for that long since before I was married so it was nice. My kids had so much fun and we didn't want to come home when we had to. We went to the lake a couple times, picked and ate tons of raspberries, played with cousins, hiked to bloomington lake(I hadn't been there for years,I think Tom and Chris took me there years ago) and got to meet sweet baby Mason.


These are some pictures of them in the lake. Jaden was so excited that he could swim around the boat without my help. It terrified me but I'm trying to adjust to an independent child!

This is a picture of Lane and Mason. Mason is gestationally a month and a half behind Lane. I am in awe of Mason. The minute you are in the same room with him you feel his sweet spirit. I can't even describe it. I've never felt that way. He is such a special baby with so much to give. I could never deny my loving Father in Heaven when I am near him. We also stopped and saw some friends on the way home which is always fun and I'm so glad my husbands friends have such incredible wives.



I thought this last Monday would be a relaxing day but Cory's mom had the other cousins so we spent the week with them going to Jumping Jacks, McDonalds, playing in the sprinkler and pool, playing at our house and going to Chuckee Cheese'!

Then we had Lane's Dr. appointment, Grace's preschool meetings, and dance open house. We had friends come play and then went school shopping(just Jade and me, it was so nice to spend one-on-one time with him) Then finally it was time for cleaning the house, doing laundry, grocery shopping and preparing Primary lessons.

Whoever came up with the term "stay at home mom" was not talking about me!! I am never home

The 24th Week

Rodeo Time


We had a busy and fun 24th weekend. We started out by going to the Fiesta Days Rodeo. We love this rodeo and my kids beg to go. Jaden was fascinated the whole time and asked all kinds of questions. He loves muttin bustin and was upset that he didn't get to do it. Grace, however, asked when we were going home after only 5 minutes. Lane slept through most of it. They did love the clown and the bulls though.


Baby Moses


Then we went camping for the weekend. It was perfect weather and was nice to get away from the heat. Lane slept from 11 to 4 a.m which was a first but my other two kids were up so I still didn't get to sleep. I usually have Lane sleep with me but I get uncomfortable so we brought the laundry basket and it proved to be a perfect bed. He did look like Baby Moses and we considered sending him down the river...JK!
I also found out that my 5 year old drives the four-wheeler. I guess he has been doing it for a while but nobody wanted to tell me. He does a great job and I was impressed(he always wears a helmet and drives only when an adult is with him). He is much better than me. He also got into shooting a bow and spent hours doing it. His form and accuracy are awesome. I am having a hard time with him growing up though. I can't believe he is doing all these things.















Cory's birthday
Then on Sunday we celebrated Cory's 32nd birthday. I think his parents, grandparents and kids were more excited than he was. We had everyone over for cake and ice cream.
