So I haven't posted my new and exciting news...mostly because I am terrified of how some people will react. I've already had one friend shy away from me after finding out my deep redneck secret. And now that I've built it up so much, I'll tell you: I'm going buffalo hunting. Yes, me! Yes, with a gun! Yes, shooting a wild animal that most people only see in Yellowstone! No, this was not high on my "to do list".
I guess my husband put me in for a cow buffalo tag and a deer tag in "the best area of the state"! I was completely unaware of this but really wouldn't care much anyway. But then a couple weeks ago the Division of Wildlife Resources called to inform me that someone had turned their tag back in and that I was now given the "once in a lifetime" tag if I wanted it(Audrey, for some reason I have a picture in my head of you laughing hysterically). Ironically, my cute sis-in-law, Laura, went last year and we got to go with her and it was fun. My kids love camping and the opportunity to see amazing animals up close was cool(my friend who may not be my friend anymore was sickened by the thought of doing anything other than taking a picture of them, which I understand and think that people who don't like hunting-don't have to). I did hate the smell of the dead one though and I'm not looking forward to that. Anyway, I am not attempting to convince anyone to become a hunter. I haven't shot a gun until the other day for years and I have never shot an animal(squirrels with Tom and Chris doesn't count, right?). I am kinda excited to get to go with my husband and be a part of something he really enjoys though. I am also terrified to screw up, and to attempt to put the time and energy into hunting(Laura hiked like 20 miles a day last year) after being up twice a night with my baby and feeding him every 3 hours. So it is actually a pretty fun hunt and if anyone is interested in coming, you are all invited!! Oh and now you understand the new camo background I have!
Now to a funner post-we went camping and four-wheeling last weekend. It was so much fun to get away from phones and stuff. I also got some fun pictures of my kids and thought I'd share:

I am laughing in the middle of being slightly shocked! Who knew our hunter safety class would pay off so well for you :) All I can say is this...I want to see pics! Enjoy your "once in a lifetime hunt" and realize that men across Utah HATE that you have this hunt and they don't!

I am very proud of you! I must say that I am glad its not me but I'm sure that it will be some day. I can't wait to taste it, I am expecting a BIG buffalo dinner at your house after. Good Luck!
Bon..I can totally see you all decked out in gear ready to go! They say that Buff meat is great and good for you too...I guess if I come to dinner I will have to be leary of what you feed me...I have a fear of eating non domesticated animals...Take tons of pics! My Grandma Phipps has a picture of a buff she killed...pretty amazing!
I want to come with you so I can watch. I think it would be totally great and funny. That poor Buffalo just think you might be killing someones father or mother (do you have to kill a boy or a girl or does that not matter?) I obviously don't know much about hunting. Have fun and also sorry I lost your phone call the other day I will call you a little later in the week.
